Aquatic Center Rules & Policies
Pool Rules
1. No running on the deck, into the pool, or in the zero depth area.
2. No diving in shallow water and areas marked “No Diving” .
3. Dangerous play such as dunking, roughhousing, or riding on shoulders is not permitted.
4. Children 6 and under must be accompanied by someone at least 16 years of age and must remain in direct supervision. An adult may supervisor up to 5 children.
5. Floatation devices not approved by the US Coast Guard are not allowed. This includes water wings, inflatables, rings, lifejackets, mermaid skirts, etc.
6. Children must be able to swim 25 yards to enter the diving well.
7. Swimmers must obey all rules and regulations posted at the water slides, diving board, and general areas.
8. Patrons under 48 inches (4 feet) must take a swim test to go down the slides.
9. Patrons must go down all slides without assistance. There is to be no one in the plunge pool or diving well to catch a child.
10. The castle feature is designated for our youngest patrons. Older children must stay clear.
11. Any children not potty trained must wear a swim diaper.
12. Everyone who enters the pool must pay, regardless of the intent to swim
13. No food or drink may be brought into the pool. All food and drink must be purchased at the concession stand and must remain in the picnic area. Only bottled water is allowed on the pool deck and grassy areas.
14. Personal items are not allowed on the concession stand picnic tables.
Lounge chairs are not to be placed in zero depth areas. The DeWitt Aquatic Center chair must remain in the grassy area.
15. No glass of any kind is permitted within the facility. This includes bottles, containers, and goggles. Goggles made of glass will have the word TEMPERED on the lenses.
16. No goggles are allowed in the deep end. Goggles will be asked to be removed before using the climbing wall, diving board, or red slide.
17. No smoking, use of tobacco products, or any electronic smoking devices
18. No alcoholic beverages
19. Any person suffering from diarrhea or a waterborne transmitted communicable disease shall not be allowed in the pool
20. No refunds or rain checks are issued if the pool closes due to a lack of patrons or severe weather
Lifeguards have the final authority on decisions made for the safety of the facility. Failure to obey any rules may result in the loss of swimming privileges for the day. No refunds will be issued if you are asked to leave the pool. In some cases, a failure to obey the rules may result in your pool pass being revoked and pool privileges taken away for the remainder of the summer. This is up to the discretion of the Aquatic Center management staff.
The DeWitt Aquatic Center has a zero tolerance policy for violence. If violence occurs, a no trespass order will be issued.
Policies
1. The DeWitt Aquatic Center is not responsible for lost or stolen articles. Lockers are provided for personal items and patrons are encouraged to bring their own locks.
2. If diarrheal contamination occurs, the facility will close according to Iowa Public Health Department Guidelines.
3. The Aquatic Center will be closed is the air temperature is below 65 degrees
4. The Aquatic Center will be closed if no patrons show up for 30 minutes after opening
5. The Aquatic Center will close if there are less than 20 people by the pool check
6. The Aquatic Center will clear the pool if there is a threat of severe storms or visible lightning. The facility may close depending on the severity and may reopen if the imminent danger passes.
7. No refunds or rain checks will be issued if the pool closes due to a lack of patrons or severe weather
8. Pool checks occur daily 2:20 and 3:50
9. Swimmers will be asked to leave the water 10 minutes prior to closing
